Toverland has stepped up their game with their biggest expansion yet!

Fēnix takes flight in Avalon, a new area at Toverland that is built to perfection. Walking into this area, this visuals are stunning and this has to be one of the most photogenic roller coaster in the world.

The blue track and brown supports with the flaming train speeding through over the water and Merlin’s Quest boat ride will make you stop in your stride as you admire how much thought has gone into this.

The queue continues the exceptional theming mostly inside with dark rooms throughout Merlin’s castle. At times you will keep your hands out to prevent bumping into things as the darkness in the queue can be a little too much at times, all of which adds to the atmosphere.

Choose your side, left or right and head into the station. Beautifully themed, the train heads out and takes a right turn underneath a huge animatronic of the mystical bird before heading up the lift hill.

This is a Bolliger and Mabillard wing coaster similar to Swarm at Thorpe Park or X-Flight found at Six Flags Great America. The main difference starts with the first drop as after completing the 131ft climb you take a right turn before the huge dive drop. I personally preferred this as the extra time at the highest point of the ride with no track above and below you really creates the sense of just how high you are.

Following the dive drop there is an air time hill, followed by an Immelmann loop, helix, zero-g roll and a little hill followed by a turnaround back to the station.

As with most wing coasters, this is a very short ride as evident in just explaining all the elements in a single paragraph. The difference is, every element the ride hits perfectly. There is a great selection of intensity, air time and beauty.

The area is a visual masterpiece and flying over the water throughout the land of Avalon is more than exciting.

Overall this would not be at the top of most favourite coaster lists, however it is a coaster you could happily ride multiple times throughout the day and keep coming back for more as it is a very enjoyable experience. Fēnix and Avalon are great additions to Toverland and this was the stand out coaster the theme park deserved.
